Mothers’ Pampering Day

Sunday, 18 March 2012 was the famous Mothers’ Day. Barbara Kwateng Lupus Trust (BKLT) took advantage of this and successfully organised the Mothers’ Pampering Day. The event which took place at the Unity Centre, London, started from 3:00pm and ended at 8:00pm and was attended by about 50 persons including Lupus sufferers, their families, supporters and health care professionals.  At the event, Lupus sufferers and their families shared their experiences with each other. The highlights of the afternoon’s events included an Indian head massage, beauticians, nutritionists and health care advice, all of whom set up stalls within the centre to pamper and advise our guests and principally, mothers.  Some of the photographs taken at the event are displayed on our events page.

We wish to take this opportunity to thank everyone who attended and supported the event.

Children's Hospital

Project PlanThe second half of the twentieth century bore witness to significant declines in mortality among children in Africa. Ghana was no exception, experiencing declines in mortality from the 1950s onward. A series of Demographic and Health Surveys conducted in Ghana documented substantial improvements in infant and childhood mortality rates between 1988 and 1998. The results of recent World Health Organisation surveys , however, indicate that these improvements have stagnated. There was some concern that mortality might even be on the rise.
